“My art expresses the entire scope of human emotion. It encourages the viewer to transcend the limits of vision and experience the piece…to feel the deepest emotions, guarded by the heart. My objective, as an artist, is to sculpt form that evokes emotion.
The genesis of the sculpture is mine. The completion…limited only by the imagination of the viewer.”
Louis Longi, bronze sculptor, grew up in the culture of Las Vegas where he formulated his personal experiences with art at an early age. He received many awards for his art while in high school and went on to study sculpture at UNLV, where he received the Devos Art Scholarship based on artistic merit.
After leaving Las Vegas, Longi moved to Denver, Colorado where he lived for eleven years. While apprenticing in the production of bronze sculptures, he established himself as a successful artist while developing his own style and reputation. All of his bronze sculptures are one-of-a-kind originals (with no series or additions), which keeps the integrity of the work and value to the collector. He has built a strong following of private and corporate collectors that seek out his original sculptures.
For six years Longi created sculptures for Cirque du Soleil and MGM MIRAGE Resorts. These works were commissioned and inspired by the performances of “Mystere” and “O” in Las Vegas.
Longi also received funding from Saab Cars (General Motors Corporation) and Cirque du Soleil’s Artist Outreach Program in support sculptural installations in Las Vegas, Nevada. Saab Cars has also contributed funding of his sculptural installation “Unification” that was on exhibit in Los Angeles.
With ten Public Art Commissions, Longi has continued to prove his ability to create and interpret the exact needs for each of the cities demands for public art. The scope of his work ranges from different formats such as benches, water fountains and free standing sculptures. He has been fortunate to work with several cities in planning, architectural design, installation, safety issues and electrical engineering.
He completed the largest commission of his career for the Nevada Cancer Institute in Las Vegas, Nevada. Longi was handpicked by the organization to create a bronze sculpture that reflects the image of the organization. “Flight Invoked” stands 25’ high and weighs over two tons, while reflecting the image of the organization; it also enhances the entrance to their facilities. This marked a very significant point in Longi’s career, as he worked with one of the largest architecture and building firms in the United States, Marnell Corrao Associates, who built the Bellagio and Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas.
Longi also won and completed the largest public art commission in the City of Laguna Beach in 2007. “Beacon” and “Usher In” are three bronze sculptures with cast glass that are a central gathering point at the entrance of the city. This location is where all guests and visitors start their experience to the City of Laguna Beach’s festivals and events. He collaborated with Master Glass Sculptor, John Barber and Architect, William Howard to create these unique sculptures.
