GISELA COLÓN

Gisela Colon is an abstract painter living and working in Los Angeles, CA.  Colon lived on the island of Puerto Rico until 20 years of age and graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, magna cum laude, with a bachelor's degree in economics in 1987. She then moved to Los Angeles to pursue graduate studies in law. She was the recipient of a congressional scholarship award by the Harry S. Truman Foundation for her outstanding academic excellence.

Although Colon became a lawyer, she has been an artist since her early childhood.  Born to a multi-cultural, multi-lingual family (German mother and Puerto Rican father) Colon was exposed to the art and the vibrant culture of the Caribbean from a very young age. Colon learned about the wonders of creating art from her mother who was a remarkable landscape painter in Puerto Rico in the 1970's. Through this eclectic and diverse environment, Colon learned to understand and appreciate art, became immersed in the craft of painting, and developed a keen eye for color, texture and composition.

Colon’s paintings are placed nationally by contemporary interior designers and art consultants in high-end residential, hospitality, corporate, and entertainment projects. Her work has also been commissioned for specific installations.
