Luc Leestemaker “Living Large”

Madison Gallery and the Healing Arts Fund present, Living Large, new works by abstract expressionist artist, Luc Leestemaker.

Exhibition Details:
Inspired by a recent trip to Brazil, these works are reflections of the artist’s continued quest for spiritual and personal healing. These new paintings create a timeline of Leestemaker’s voyage – viewers are guided through both the physical places and emotional experiences that characterized the profoundly personally and transitional nature of the artist’s journey. In doing such, the viewer is witness to a change within Leestemaker’s work, one that shifts him from the ambiguous landscape to a canvas of enlightenment and painterly nirvana.

Artist Information:
Luc Leestemaker was born in the Netherlands in 1957. Upon moving to the US in 1990, Leestemaker continued a longstanding cultural tradition in his family by committing himself to painting full time thus following in the footsteps of other European and Dutch artists, notably Willem de Kooning and Mondrian, for whom living and working in the US inspired a dramatic creative transition. With his contemporary landscapes as a solid foundation, recent compositions, as “Voyagers” and “Map of The Wind” have taken the viewer into a new generation of abstract expressionism, in which landscape and abstraction increasingly merge. Leestemaker’s paintings are exhibited throughout the US and internationally, increasingly becoming a part of major corporate and private collections.
